Dickson Street Bookshop, Fayetteville, AR

Whether it be Kampala or Fayetteville, neighborhood bookshops always says so much about the people who live there. Everyone's preferences on display; they are always some of my favorite finds when I travel.

I was introduced to Dickson Street Bookshop in 2004, 13 years ago, when I visited Fayetteville, AR for the first time. Never ending aisles of books, quiet readers browsing the most obscure sections, well priced paperbacks ready to be thumbed through for a quick browse, or picked up for vacation reads, the funniest New Yorker cartoons clipped out and tacked to the walls for a quick dose of humor, polite attendants who largely leave you alone; it is an introverts paradise. A mandatory stopover for anyone who may find themselves in Fayetteville for a few days, or even for locals when they need to soothe their souls, I will keep coming back to DSB for more at every chance I get.
